The Coming Of The Holy Ghost

With Pentecost approaching this Sunday, it reminds me of the basics of our beliefs as Catholics. These gifts and graces brought forth by the Holy Ghost should remain an active part of faith

The risen Christ and the descent of the Holy Ghost leaves us with these important messages from God. I think these virtues correlate well with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Ghost

Firm foundation is key to the development and growth of Spiritual Life.
The Theological Virtues should be a positive inspiration and something that we should reflect upon in our daily living. These virtues of Faith, Hope and Love are taught to us early on in our faith as children and should remain as our building blocks as adults.

FAITH is believing that there is a God. It is a trust in something we know we cannot fully understand.
HOPE is the promise that was given to us by this Almighty God that we may be able to share in His Kingdom.
LOVE is the love we for God above all else.

We all remeber and know these virtues, but we must act on them and apply them to our daily living. As simple as this may sound, it is not always as easy to do.
If you expand these three virtues you will se that they go farther than mere definition of the simple and beautiful words that are vital to our Catholic Faith. They can be applied to anything. Whether discussing the world events or in discussing something as simple as guiding and our children.

Gifts and fruits of The Holy Ghost

There are seven gifts of The Holy Ghost
These gifts are infused in our soul. Again these simple yet powerful teaching of our faith have ben disregarded or somewhere on the back burner of our memories.
Most Catholics if put to the test if asked what the Gifts of The Holy Ghost were? would fail. I think it is very important to refresh our selves and make a turn backwards, so to speak into our faith. To reflect on the earlier teachings of our Catechism. Get back to the Baltimore Catechism and read.

WISDOM Is the realization of God. To know that He is all good
UNDERSTANDING To come to know and understand our faith and to be able to detect untrue doctrine
COUNSEL Discovering the will of God, knowing we are sinners and that we have Jesus for our strength
FORTITUDE Is the perseverence to go on regarless of what the circumstances
KNOWLEDGE Is the intellectual pursuit the teaching of our Church
PIETY Loving God as our Father and doing His will and not our own
FEAR OF THE LORD Is a good fear that keeps us focused the right path. To avoid the snares of Satan

Along with These Gifts comes Fruits of The HolyGhost
(Remember These???)
These Fruits enable us to discern the will of God
CHARITY
JOY
PEACE
PATIENCE
BENIGNITY
GOODNESS
LONG-SUFFERING
MILDNESS
FAITH
MODESTY
CONTINENCY
CHASTITY

Hi, Ginny.

Happy Pentecost! I hope you're doing better.

Veni, Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium, et tui amoris in eis ignem accende.

*grin* It's better in Latin.

Best, Argent
