Lenten Preparation
It is that time again when we start to ponder the Lenten obligations we must pursue.
It is imperative that we join in the sufferings of Christ during this time.
So is it significant to our well being.
There are so many ways that we can share in the carrying of the cross. There are those wonderful sweets we love so much and try to give up.
There are the snacks we like in between meals that we give up.
There are so many of the good things we enjoy that are fun and entertaining to us as well.
We can give up television. although for me this is no problem because I haven't watched tv in years now and I don't miss it at all.
But more importantly, I believe it is not so much what we give up, but what we add to our lives that make sharing in Christ's life much more beneficial to our souls
We can be kinder to that co-worker that you would much rather wring his or her neck instead.
We can do without something we enjoy and put that spending towards someone anonymously.
Maybe someone you know is out of work and a few dollars coming their way couldn't hurt and they wouldn't have to know where it came from.
Just a smile to a stranger is a small and easy step but goes a long way
Indulgence detaches us from Christ, we need to become close to Him in order to truly follow His Path
This means giving up of oneself in several ways.
We need to increase prayer life, no matter how tired we are and no matter how many times we fall. He picked Himself up and so must we
So preparation is very important and takes some time to do. May we all have the graces available from Our Lord to find the courage to climb our way to Calvary
God Bless you all in Your Lenten Preparations and ask God to help us carry those plans out

Great point about giving a smile to stranger. Such little things can lift others' spirits and be genuine acts of charity and mercy!
You've given me some good ideas here, as I still haven't decided what to give up for Lent. I like the idea of helping others with little money of their own. that's one of my favorite corporal works of mercy. And we all have annoying coworkers, don't we? I might try that one, too. God bless.
